Aarhus is the second largest city in Denmark and a cultural center with an abundance of museums and galleries. The University city of Aarhus is also the home of 6 theatres, a concert hall, and a large congress centre. Every year in July, there is a great Jazz Festival and in September “Aarhus Festival Week” – one of Scandinavia’s greatest cultural events.

Close to the Youth Hostel
Danhostel Aarhus is situated in the middle of the forest, Riis Skov. From the highest slope, you have a beautiful view of Aarhus bay. The forest has a good path system as well as two different runningpaths. At the mouth of the forest, you find a small ice cream stand. From the youth hostel, it is only 500 meters to the beach, Den Permanente, which is an old fashioned bath and one of the most popular beaches in the city.
